Inefficient or Short Staffed? Both. | PAWCast 65 | Veterinary Podcast

July 06, 2021

The Washington Post recently released an article discussing the seven industries most desperate for workers. You can find that article here: https://wapo.st/2SIfwpE

This led Ben, Dr. Katie and Dr. Caroline into a discussion on whether or not the veterinary industry has problems more sourced in being short staffed or in being inefficient. If you have listened to the PAWCast in the past, you know that we are big believers in care provision models heavily focused on efficiency and availability, but we can also acknowledge that not everyone can perform veterinary medicine the way that we do at PAW Health Network.

So, to understand the issue of veterinary staff shortages more effectively, this episode is a deep dive into the reality of staffing, wages, benefits and the impact of COVID-19 on the veterinary community. All the referenced articles and reports are linked below.

What’s your opinion? Are we actually short staffed or do you think the problems could be solved if we were more efficient in the way care is provided across the board? Let us know in the comments!
